Parisian Restaurant, near the Gare du Nord

Arriving in Paris in a snow storm, without reservations we walked out of the Gare du Nord where the Eurostar and dropped us, turned left and found a 1-star hotel for €40/night. However there wasn’t much for breakfast. We ended up in this little cafe opposite the train station, whose name I forgot to write down. It was cosy and seemed full of locals though they boasted “un petit dejeuner anglais”  which came with bacon and eggs! While we were waiting I snapped this shot. The camera was determinded that it needed flash – but I knew it wouldn’t work with the mirror. So I just braced against the chair back and I think it came out OK.

The locals were looking at the crazy tourist, but really you don’t get this type of decor in a cheap restaurant in my home town!

Lis Photo looks good, no worries about that..One think I noticed with French restaurants is that they don’t have the menus in English and if you don’t know French you are in trouble…

Actually I found more English in French restaraunts than I did German ones… I’m sure there is now an app for it- but for common languages I have survival language skills which include the important words: beer, wine, chocolate, desert, that sort of thing!
