The Best Place To Live In Europe
Located on the beautiful Black Sea Coast, many consider Varna, Bulgaria to be the best place to live cheaply in Europe. For four centuries, this beautiful country was ruled by the Ottoman Empire, and more recently; Bulgaria spent four decades hidden behind the Iron Curtain. Now, with freedom firmly in hand, Varna is a favorite vacation destination and a perfect place to relocate and live cheaply.
Surrounded by orchards, vineyards, and forests, Varna has over twelve miles of sandy beaches. Varna’s mild climate is influenced by the sea breeze, but the summer and autumn months are hot, yet considerably cooler than that on the Mediterranean. Despite the less than average rainfall, plentiful groundwater maintains the lush forests and wooded hills throughout the summer. The months of January and February are cold.
Being a resort city, living in Varna is like being on a perpetual vacation. But unlike most Resort cities, living in Varna frugally is easy. A one bedroom apartment rents for just over $200 per month and a three bedroom apartment goes for well under $400. Groceries are reasonable and will cost just a little over half of what they cost in the US. A three course dinner for two in an
elegant restaurant costs just over $20. Unlike most of Eastern Europe, American clothing is cheap. A pair of Levi 501 jeans cost about $35. That’s considerably less than in most of Eastern Europe.
The local population is friendly and simply adores any foreigner who expresses admiration for the beauty of Bulgaria. If you tell them that the rolling hills of Bulgaria are more beautiful than any in your own country, you will earn their immediate trust. They will also think highly of you. They are proud of Bulgaria’s natural beauty and love nothing more than when that opinion is shared by foreigners. For Bulgarians the pride runs deep and like their American counterparts they consider their home land the best place to live.
